Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant at SixGen Inc. is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. This role includes reviewing employee expense reports, managing accounts payable, and assisting with payroll, month-end close, among other duties as needed. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Controller and Senior Accountant to maintain smooth financial processes and compliance with accounting standards. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of basic and intermediate accounting principles.Primary Responsibilities:
- Review employee expense reports for accuracy, make corrections, and communicate with employees as needed
- Enter accounts payable into Unanet after reviewing bills for accuracy; send non-recurring bills to the Controller or appropriate department head for approval prior to entry
- Record vendor auto-payments and payroll in Unanet, ensuring all transactions are properly documented
- Assist with month-end accounting close, including preparing workpapers and reconciling general ledger accounts
- Prepare year-end 1099 forms
- Assist with various other accounting and finance duties, and analysis as needed
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of financial statements (Balance Sheet & Income Statement)
- Knowledge of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes
- Proficiency with basic Excel formulas and data entry
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll taxes, and employee benefits
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and compliance requirements
- Understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis
- Maintain proper documentation and follow internal controls
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
