Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled and proactive Fertilizer Bagging System Operator & Controls to manage the operation of our automated fertilizer bagging system. The ideal candidate will monitor controls, automation, and robotics while ensuring optimal production output and uptime. This role demands expertise with Allen-Bradley systems, a strong focus on troubleshooting, and a commitment to maintaining efficient, high-quality production in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate and oversee the fertilizer bagging system, including automated controls, robotics, and conveyor lines, to meet daily production targets.
  • Monitor Allen-Bradley PLC systems to adjust settings, optimize workflows, and ensure consistent bagging rates and product accuracy.
  • Conduct real-time troubleshooting of automation and robotics issues, such as sensor malfunctions, conveyor jams, or control system errors, to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, or software-related problems in the bagging system, using diagnostic tools and Allen-Bradley interface knowledge.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and calibrate equipment to prevent production interruptions and maintain quality standards.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies; recommend adjustments to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Maintain detailed production records, including output totals, system performance metrics, and troubleshooting logs.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and maintenance teams to address complex issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality control standards, and standard operating procedures during all production activities.
  • Support system setup, product changeovers, and post-production cleaning to prepare for subsequent runs.

Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience operating and troubleshooting automated production systems, ideally in manufacturing or agricultural industries.
  • Advanced proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC systems, including the ability to read schematics, interpret error codes, and adjust programming as needed.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
  • Proven track record of maintaining production schedules and meeting output goals in a high-volume setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
  • Basic computer literacy for interacting with automation software and documenting production data.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automation, robotics, or industrial maintenance strongly preferred.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a production environment.

Preferred Skills:


  • Background in fertilizer production, bulk material handling, or similar processes.
  • Experience maintaining robotics, conveyors, and bagging equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement practices.

Work Environment:


This role operates in a production facility with exposure to dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures. Strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements is essential.

Schedule:

 Full-time, with potential for shift work or overtime based on production demands.
