Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver® technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. About the Opportunity:
The Director, Investor Relations, will play a critical role in supporting and executing Codexis’ investor relations strategy. This individual will support efforts to strengthen relationships with the investor community, broaden the investor base, and enhance communications with external stakeholders. Working closely with the CFO, CEO, senior leadership, and internal teams, the person in the role will provide guidance on market trends, contribute to strategic investor outreach, and manage external communications that highlight Codexis’ growth trajectory and innovation.This role requires a skilled communicator who can tell Codexis’ story in a compelling way to create a strong connection with the investor community.
Investor Relations Strategy and Execution:
Supports the evaluation and enhancement of Codexis’ current investor relations plan by contributing to the development and execution of strategies to expand the investor base, elevate the corporate profile, and effectively communicate Codexis’ strategies and progress to the investor and research community, aligning efforts with internal and external events
Track and assist in assessing the current investor base and new potential investors, as well as relationships with Wall Street
Communications Ownership:
Contributes to the development and oversight of external investor communications, including corporate presentations, earnings releases, management Q&A, SEC filings (e.g., Form 8-K, Form S-3), and the Codexis investor relations website
Supports the creation of briefing materials for senior management for investor meetings, analyst days, R&D days, and other corporate events
Assists in the preparation of Board materials, media releases, and the business section of the Form 10-K
Execute public relations (PR) initiatives to ensure consistent and strategic external communications. This includes collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to develop press releases, manage media inquiries, and align messaging across investor and public channels. The Director will help shape Codexis’ public narrative, reinforcing the company’s reputation and visibility in the life sciences industry.
Assist with internal messaging and other corporate communications functions
Investor Engagement:
Helps build and maintain strong relationships with sell-side and buy-side analysts, institutional investors, and other key stakeholders
Supports the primary point of contact for the investment community
Coordinates Codexis’ participation in banking conferences, non-deal roadshows, and one-on-one meetings with investors and analysts
Executive Collaboration
Partners closely with the CFO, CEO, senior leadership, and internal functions, crafting clear and consistent messaging for various platforms, tailored to specific audiences
Provides insights and recommendations to executive leadership on market sentiment, investor feedback, and industry trends to inform strategic decision-making
Collaboration with Financial Planning & Analysis:
Works closely with the FP&A team to manage consensus estimates, analyze financial models, and align messaging with market expectations
Conducts analysis of sell-side models compared to internal forecasts to assess and communicate implications for analyst and investor expectations
Competitive Analysis:
Monitors and analyzes the competitive landscape across Codexis’ portfolio, evaluating the impact of industry news and competitor activities on the business
Collaborates with competitive intelligence and other internal teams to understand industry trends and competitor activities, informing differentiated corporate messaging
Progress Tracking and Reporting:
Tracks progress against the investor relations plan, providing regular updates to the Board of Directors and senior leadership team
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in investor relations within a publicly traded biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, or relevant experience in capital markets, buy/sell-side roles, or investor relations consulting for life sciences clients
- Strong knowledge of capital markets, financial statements, and valuation models
- Experience working within the life sciences or biotechnology industry preferred
- Proven ability to present complex scientific and clinical data effectively to diverse audiences
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate Codexis’ story in a compelling way to create a strong connection with the investor community
- Familiarity with SEC and FDA regulations governing investor and external communications
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and the ability to create compelling investor materials and financial models
- Ability to build relationships and engage effectively with senior management, investors, and external stakeholders
CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $170,000 to $210,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
