Team Lead Role Description:
A team leader is someone who oversees the functionality of a workgroup by providing guidance and instruction. Team leaders have multiple roles, including:

  • Tactician: Responsible for deciding how to approach tasks and develop a plan to accomplish them. This includes customer project proposals, resource planning, training, and team member time management.
  • Manager or supervisor: accountable for overseeing activities within a team.
  • Communicator: Responsible for distributing and collecting information from team members and stakeholders.
  • Organizer: Accountable for tracking and structuring various tasks, team member time, and customer project documents.
  • Grower: Responsible for meeting team members where they are at, challenging them to be their best and helping them think critically on how they perform their role.
  • Goal setter:
  • Responsible for collaborating with ASG Leadership to collaborate with the team members setting the professional goals.
  • Responsible for working with the ASG Leadership team to meet customers’ expectations and ensure team members are growing and contributing.
  • Cheerleader: finding ways to recognize and lift up individuals and the team for their efforts, accomplishments and successes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for participating in the ASG Operations Processes.
  • Tracking ongoing work to ensure that we are meeting established goals.
  • Be an active contributing member of the leadership team.
  • Manage the operation of a team.
  • Responsible for solving problems or resolving conflicts, including correcting team members' poor practices that impact customers and team members.
  • Responsible for establishing shared ownership for good results.
  • Responsible for balancing individual and team workloads.
  • Responsible for communicating/checking in with client stakeholders to ensure team member support is meeting client needs.
  • Responsible for caring for the health, safety, and welfare of ASG and ASG team members.
  • Responsible for taking responsibility for ineffective outcomes.
  • Responsible for adapting to company changes and policies.
  • Responsible for setting examples.
  • Responsible for being an inspiration.
  • Responsible for recognizing ineffective methods or practices.
  • Responsible for approaching the leadership team with concerns or ideas and report on metrics.
  • Responsible for operating in the best interest of the team members and ASG when determining policies.
  • Responsible for making work exciting and even enjoyable.
  • Responsible for encouraging the team to work together to benefit the other team members and our customers.
  • Business operations support
  • Responsible for forecasting upcoming work and strategies to support.
  • Responsible for creating proposals to meet upcoming projects and to ensure ongoing funding is in place.
  • Responsible for resolving funding issues impacting continued/on-going support
  • Lead and motivate the team
  • Responsible for managing performance by collaborating with team members’ Growth and Contribution plans and developing timelines to reach goals and empowering each team member to see their potential and to grow within ASG.
  • Responsible for complementing good behavior in both directions and using the recognition program.
  • Responsible for monitoring team members without micromanaging them.
  • Model responsible autonomy leadership behaviors within team engagement.
  • Responsible for participating in the recruitment of new team members.
  • Responsible for training new team members directly and providing a 30/60/90-day plan for new team members.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Responsible for mentoring and guiding level 1, 2 & 3 team members and level 0 interns, which is part of the ASG growth and contribution policy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Confidence and skillful negotiating skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to give the team direction.
  • Commitment to learn and practice leadership behaviors in role

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field, preferably in a technical area.
  • Preferably 5+ years of experience in project controls or related field.
  • Experience in a leadership role.

  • Outstanding proficiency in relevant software tools, eQMS platforms, project management software, data analysis tools to support the teams' operational needs.
  • Outstanding ability to assess complex situations and make well-informed, strategic decisions aligned with ASG’s goals and values.
  • Outstanding flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and a dynamic work environment with a willingness to embrace new challenges and learn emerging skills.
