This position is hybrid and remote eligible up to 40% of the time. The office location for this position is at ESL Corporate Headquarters in Rochester, NY. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Pay:


Starting Pay:  $102,000     Pay Range: $90,108 - $113,596

Purpose:


A UI/UX Designer will help shape the future of digital experiences at ESL! This newly created role offers the opportunity to design and refine customer-facing platforms and internal employee tools, ensuring they are intuitive, user-friendly, and visually engaging. In this role, the UI/UX Designer will collaborate with developers, product managers, and business teams to translate complex needs into seamless digital experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for an self-starter who enjoys solving design challenges, improving digital interactions, and making an impact on the future of the organization.

Accountabilities:


Execute Data-Driven Design

  • Help establish and refine ESL’s Design Standards to ensure consistency across digital platforms
  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer and employee experiences within our existing systems
  • Work within existing systems to create designs that are both effective and feasible for implementation
  • Partner with internal teams to analyze and leverage existing research and market intelligence

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal business and technical teams to understand project goals and challenges
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, user-friendly designs
  • Ask thoughtful questions and listen actively to ensure alignment on project objectives
  • Use data-driven insights on user behavior and decision-making patterns to enhance usability

Create and Test UI/UX Designs

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows for digital experiences
  • Ensure designs are accessible, responsive, and aligned with industry best practices
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth design implementation and ensure final designs meet accessibility and compliance standards
  • Conduct usability testing and analyze results to refine user experiences
  • Apply iterative design principles to continuously improve interfaces based on feedback
  • Use A/B testing, usability testing, and behavior analytics to validate design improvements

Continuously develop skills and advance expertise

  • Stay up to date with changing UX/UI best practices, behavioral psychology, and consumer trends
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions and cross-functional learning opportunities
  • Engage in ongoing skill development through training, workshops, or industry events
  • Other duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, media design, industrial design, psychology, information architecture, computer science, or similar
  • In addition, a minimum of 3 years of internal and external UI/UX experience, including internships and co-ops
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using industry-standard design tools
  • Demonstrates alignment with ESL’s Core Values, mission, vision, and Purpose to help our community thrive and prosper

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and A/B testing
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing web and mobile UI/UX design projects highlighting a user-centered design approach
  • Understanding of design systems, responsive design, and accessibility best practices (WCAG, ADA compliance)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work across teams and articulate design decisions
  • Understanding of financial products, banking UX, or fintech design
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment, like Azure DevOps
