Position Summary 


Rekor is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Sales to lead and grow our Scout business. This pivotal role will report directly to the Executive Vice President, managing the Scout business, and will oversee the leadership of our diverse sales team, including Law Enforcement, Commercial, Sales Development Representatives (SDRs), and renewals/expansion efforts. The Director of Sales will drive the growth of new customers, streamline sales operations, and ensure the effective use of CRM systems for opportunity tracking, forecasting, and customer success.

This role is key to enhancing collaboration between Sales, Operations, and Customer Support teams to deliver seamless service and exceed business targets.

1. Leadership & Team Management:


  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performance sales team, ensuring alignment with Rekor’s mission and aggressive revenue targets.
  • Manage teams across Law Enforcement, Commercial, SDRs, and renewals/expansion segments, fostering a growth mindset and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop team capabilities, providing training, coaching, and support to ensure success in all sales functions.

2. Sales Operations & CRM Management:


  • Oversee the use of CRM tools to track and capture all sales opportunities, ensuring accurate data and efficient sales processes.
  • Ensure team adherence to best practices for opportunity management and reporting, driving consistent pipeline growth and accurate forecasting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve sales workflows and leverage technology for enhanced sales efficiency.

3. New Customer Growth:


  • Drive the acquisition of new customers, focusing on expanding Rekor's footprint in both the Law Enforcement and Commercial sectors.
  • Implement and refine strategies for prospecting, lead generation, and opportunity development to maximize sales growth.

4. Budgeting & Forecasting:


  • Assist the EVP in the regular forecasting of Scout business, ensuring accurate projections of sales performance.
  • Work with the sales team to develop pricing strategies and budgets for new system sales, optimizing revenue opportunities.

5. Collaboration with Execution & Delivery Teams:


  • Ensure seamless transition of sales opportunities from Sales to Operations, maintaining alignment on customer requirements and project timelines.
  • Foster strong working relationships with Customer Support to resolve any issues quickly and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Ideal Profile:


  • Minimum 10+ years in sales leadership, with a focus on technology solutions, preferably in public safety, transportation or related industries.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage large, complex sales cycles, and drive revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems and sales operations, with experience in implementing tools for sales effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated success in driving new business acquisition and managing a high-performing sales team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • A growth mindset with a passion for delivering innovative solutions and achieving customer success.

Location & Travel:


  • Preferred location: Maryland/DC/Virginia metro area with some hybrid flexibility.
  • Domestic travel: Approximately 25%
