About the Role
GXM is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to support one of our federal client investment programs. The analyst will conduct comprehensive investment due diligence and financial risk assessments on private equity fund managers applying for critical technology investments in partnership with the Department of Defense.
Key Responsibilities
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of program applicants and their portfolio companies.
- Evaluate performance using metrics such as IRR, TVPI, RVPI, MOIC, and DPI.
- Review financial statements, valuation models, and projected returns.
- Assess the viability, scalability, and financial health of small business investments.
- Identify and quantify financial, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks.
- Validate accuracy of application documents and underlying financial data.
- Deliver clear, well-structured Investment Due Diligence Reports based on established timelines.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to present findings and strategic recommendations.
- Analyze market trends, industry landscapes, and exit strategies (IPOs, M&A, divestiture).
- Conduct due diligence on fund governance, leadership qualifications, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) alignment, and regulatory compliance.
- Support revised reports and follow-ups as needed based on additional reviews or client requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
- 2-10 years’ experience in financial analysis, investment due diligence, or private equity/venture capital environments.
- Strong understanding of private fund structures, underwriting processes, and valuation principles.
- Ability to interpret and synthesize financial data into meaningful risk assessments.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal and written—with experience preparing senior leader reports.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work with federal investment programs.
- Knowledge of ESG risk frameworks.
- Familiarity with U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (especially Title 13), and government contracting procedures.
- Experience evaluating fund managers applying for licenses.
- Comfort working independently in a deadline-driven hybrid work environment.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET (flexible within range) with occasional onsite work with the client in the Washington DC area.
- Hybrid with occasional travel (pre-approved and reimbursed under Federal Travel Regulations).
- Deliverables typically due 4–8 weeks from assignment.
- Collaborative team of financial, legal, and regulatory analysts.

- All work performed under strict federal data protection requirements.
- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) required upon onboarding.
