The Manager, Specialty Claims will report to the Vice President, Specialty Claims. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Manager to lead and manage complex and high-severity recovery claims, including subrogation, litigation, and attorney-managed claims. This role involves direct oversight of all recovery efforts, legal strategies, negotiation efforts, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Claims Manager will be responsible for conducting detailed claim audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in Subrogation, Quality Assurance, and Liability Claims.
- Adjuster's license, as mandated by specific states, are required.
Primary Job Functions:
- Manage all aspects of the subrogation claims process—from identification through recovery—ensuring efficient and timely handling.
- Analyze open and closed claims for subrogation opportunities by reviewing reports, liability information, and supporting documentation.
- Direct management of recovery specialists and external legal counsel to pursue recoveries through negotiation, litigation, or arbitration.
- Ensure all subrogation activities comply with state and federal insurance laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Track and report on KPIs such as recovery rate, cycle time, and cost-effectiveness; use data to improve processes.
- Design and refine workflows and strategies to improve efficiency, recovery rates, and cost control.
- Audit claim files across multiple lines of business to ensure claim handling meets internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in claim reviews and claim audits.
- Attend settlement conferences and trials when necessary.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned by a supervisor.
