Position Overview


We're seeking an experienced and analytically minded Revenue Manager to join our growing finance team and take ownership of our revenue recognition processes and systems. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a SaaS company's financial operations, working with cutting-edge revenue management tools while collaborating across departments to ensure seamless revenue processes. As our Revenue Manager, you'll be the subject matter expert for our Maxio platform and serve as the critical link between Sales, Legal, and Finance to optimize our revenue operations.

Key Responsibilities


Primary Revenue Management Duties:


Oversee all aspects of revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and GAAP requirementsMaintain and optimize Symplicity's Maxio platform as the primary revenue recognition and subscription management toolManage customer invoicing processes, including recurring subscriptions, one-time charges, and contract amendmentsOversee renewal tracking, forecasting, and reporting to support customer success and sales teamsCoordinate with Sales and Legal teams to ensure timely processing of closed deals from HubSpot through Maxio to NetSuiteAnalyze and report on key SaaS metrics including MRR, ARR, churn rates, and customer lifetime valueSupport month-end and quarter-end closing processes with accurate revenue recognition schedules and reportingApply foreign exchange (FX) impact calculations in revenue recognition, forecasting and reporting processes

Revenue Operations & Analysis:


Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures to ensure compliancePrepare detailed revenue analytics and variance analysis for management reportingMonitor contract compliance and revenue recognition treatment for complex arrangementsManage deferred revenue balances and ensure accurate revenue recognition timing, including FX impact on deferred revenue balancesCoordinate billing for multi-element contracts and professional services arrangementsSupport collections activities through detailed aging analysis and customer account managementImplement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of revenue operationsCalculate and record foreign currency translation adjustments for international contracts and deferred revenue positions

System Management & Integration:


Serve as primary administrator and subject matter expert for Maxio platformEnsure seamless data flow between HubSpot (CRM), Maxio (revenue management), and NetSuite (ERP)Maintain accurate customer and contract data across all integrated systemsMaintain and optimize Maxio workflows to support business requirementsTroubleshoot system issues and coordinate with vendors for technical supportSupport implementation of new features and system enhancements

Cross-Functional Collaboration:


Partner with Sales Operations to ensure accurate contract setup and pricing configurationWork closely with Legal team to interpret contract terms for proper revenue treatmentCollaborate with Client Management team on renewal forecasting and at-risk account identificationSupport Sales team with billing questions and customer account inquiriesAssist with external audit processes by preparing revenue-related schedules and documentation

Additional Responsibilities:


Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue reporting packages for managementMonitor and analyze subscription cohort performance and trendsSupport budget and forecast processes with revenue projections and analysis, including FX impact modelingEnsure compliance with internal controls related to revenue processesParticipate in special projects related to pricing strategy, new product launches, and system implementationsStay current on SaaS accounting standards and best practices

Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5-8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a SaaS or subscription-based businessStrong knowledge of revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606Solid understanding of GAAP and SaaS accounting practicesExperience with subscription billing and revenue management conceptsUnderstanding of foreign exchange accounting and currency translation impactsProficiency in Excel and financial analysisStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyExperience with ERP systems and revenue management platformsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications


CPA certification a plus (not required)Experience with NetSuite ERP systemExperience with Maxio (formerly SaaSOptics) or similar revenue management platformsPrevious experience with HubSpot CRM integrationKnowledge of SaaS metrics and key performance indicatorsExperience in a high-growth technology company environmentBackground in subscription billing and renewal processesFamiliarity with multi-element arrangement accountingExperience supporting external audits Experience with multi-currency revenue recognition and foreign exchange accounting

Work Environment & Expectations


Position based in Arlington, VA (Symplicity HQ) with regular in-office attendance Must be available during typical East Coast business hours (9 AM - 5 PM ET)Regular attendance at cross-departmental meetings and revenue review sessionsAbility to respond to time-sensitive revenue and billing inquiries promptlyOccasional extended hours during month-end and quarter-end close periodsNo travel required for this positionSome remote work flexibility available
