So, what’s the role all about?
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Senior Technical Writer to join our software development team. You’ll be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that helps developers, users, and stakeholders understand and use our software products effectively.

How will you make an impact?
- Create and maintain high-quality documentation including:
- Deployment guides
- User guides
- Developer and API guides
- Translate complex technical concepts into accessible content for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and UX designers to understand product features and technical workflows
- Work with version control systems (such as Bitbucket and Git) to manage documentation alongside code
- Ensure documentation is consistent with brand voice, style guides, and standards
- Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback and product updates
Have you got what it takes?
Required
- Excellent English communication ability and clear concise writing skills
- Strong awareness of target audience: end users, administrators, field service engineers, installation engineers
- Experience of content management and single-sourcing
- Social skills: collecting input, working with on-site and remote with dev/QA teams, product owners and tech support
- Understanding of software terminology and an interest in software
- Affinity with UI/UX and ability to advise on UI messages, labels and other text
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy in using terminology
You will have an advantage if you also have:
- Experience with MadCap Flare, Source Control (Git, Bitbucket), Snagit or MadCap Capture, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Copilot
- Experience writing for SaaS and cloud platforms
- University or equivalent level, with a minimum of 4 years of work experience and a strong technical communication background
Recruitment process
After a first non-technical introduction, we’ll ask candidates to provide samples of their technical writing work, and to do an assessment. If both parties want to move forward, there’ll be a third and final interview where you’ll meet our senior leadership team, after which we discuss terms and contract. All interviews will be held in person in the Alkmaar office.
