Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and driven Controller / Associate to the VP of Finance who can operate at the intersection of accounting discipline and financial strategy. This role blends traditional controller responsibilities with analytical project work, forecasting, and financial performance management.The ideal candidate brings rigor to core finance processes while also thinking critically about business performance, operational efficiency, and future growth. This is a hands-on, fast-moving role ideal for a professional who thrives in an environment where they wear multiple hats and tackle both detail-oriented tasks and big-picture thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full close process to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Own gross margin analysis and reporting to support business insights and decision-making.
- Lead and support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis as part of FP&A efforts.
- Drive project-based work with financial and operational impact (e.g., cost optimization, revenue modeling).
- Improve and maintain processes related to expense management, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
- Partner closely with the VP of Finance on strategic initiatives and board/investor-ready outputs.
- Serve as a cross-functional finance partner to operations, sales, and leadership teams.
- Utilize systems like QuickBooks and NetSuite to maintain integrity of financial data and improve workflows.
- Support financial audits, compliance, and internal controls.
- Be flexible and proactive in taking on new challenges across the finance function.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a dynamic, high-growth company.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and close processes.
- Demonstrated experience with forecasting, financial analysis, and margin tracking.
- Hands-on expertise with QuickBooks and NetSuite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
- Strong project ownership mentality and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working onsite most of the time and collaborating cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification (nice to have, not required).
- Experience working in a startup or fast-scaling tech environment.
- Exposure to investor reporting, board presentations, or fundraising support.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
