Inventory Control Supervisor

Description


The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for executing and improving inventory control processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency within a regulated warehouse environment. This role leads cycle count programs, resolves variances, maintains strict FIFO/FEFO standards, and supports system-driven data integrity efforts. Working closely with Analysts and warehouse staff, the supervisor ensures organized storage, optimal space utilization, and safe material handling in alignment with cGMP, and OSHA requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily inventory control operations to ensure accuracy, traceability, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
  • Execute and refine cycle count programs targeting high-turn, high-value materials using ABC classification, Min/Max thresholds, and location-based logic.
  • Investigate inventory variances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to drive systemic and behavioral improvements.
  • Partner with Analysts to develop WMS-driven triggers, exception flags, and tools that support data integrity and inventory accountability.
  • Enforce FIFO/FEFO practices for perishable, temperature-sensitive, and regulated goods; ensure compliant material rotation and documentation.
  • Maintain high standards of inventory hygiene and accuracy through continuous data validation across physical stock and WMS records.
  • Deploy and uphold visual controls, 5S practices, and optimized storage layouts to ensure organization and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate racking adjustments and space utilization based on material flow, volume changes, and process redesigns.
  • Train and mentor warehouse personnel on inventory protocols, documentation requirements, compliance, and handling procedures.
  • Monitor key inventory KPIs (e.g., shrink, variance, location accuracy) and escalate issues impacting availability, cost, or schedule reliability.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to organize, relocate, or segregate materials as required; ensure handling and storage meets cGMP and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, and internal safety policies; maintain clean, hazard-free workspaces and report issues promptly.
  • Perform additional tasks and cross-functional support duties as needed to meet inventory, systems, and operational objectives.

Requirements


  • 3-5+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain roles; supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated proficiency operating PITs and Warehouse Equipment (Standup and Sit-down Forklifts, Order-Pickers, Automatic Pallet Jacks)

  • Strong understanding of inventory principles, including FIFO/FEFO, ABC classification, and cycle count methodologies.
  • Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems; ability to analyze data and support system-driven inventory accuracy.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments (cGMP, FDA, OSHA) and proper handling of perishable or sensitive materials.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, process improvement, and deployment of 5S and visual management tools.
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification (sit-down/stand-up); hands-on capability for material movement and inspection.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills.
