At Kong, we’re on a mission to power the world’s APIs—and we’re looking for curious minds to join us on this journey.As a Staff Technical Support Engineer on our Technical Support Engineering (TSE) team, you’ll work closely with some of the most innovative companies in the world to help them solve complex issues in production and pre-production environments.

This isn’t your typical support role—you’ll be deep in the trenches of cloud-native architectures, collaborating with product and engineering teams, and shaping the future of how our technology evolves.This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. The role operates in a 24/7 shift model, offering diverse experience across global customers.

What you'll be doing:


  • Work with top developers from around the world to implement Kong products and technologies, including our API Gateway and ServiceMesh solutions.
  • Lead the investigation of complex technical puzzles and collaborate to resolve customer issues via live troubleshooting calls and emails in an enterprise environment.
  • Create knowledge articles to complement our documentation and help customers better understand product use cases.
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams by providing real-time feedback about product performance and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with other customer-facing teams, including Education, Technical Account Managers, CSMs, and Professional Services, on customer issues.
  • Participate in driving innovation within the support team, the company, and with our customers by finding better ways to do our work, improving tools, and raising the bar on the service we deliver to our Global 5000 customers.
  • Provide technical mentorship to other team members and contribute to ad-hoc projects.

What you bring:


  • 6+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role
  • You are a voracious learner who loves to dig into technical mysteries and has the creativity to solve complex technical problems.
  • You can build strong relationships with like-minded teammates, smart customers, and global partners.
  • You share a growth mindset, and you learn and adapt quickly.
  • REST and RESTful APIs
  • Coding skills (at a minimum, the ability to read and troubleshoot code)
  • Cloud technologies, containers, and cluster deployment and management tools like Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, and others
  • Web architectures, including HTTP

Bonus Points:


  • Familiarity with DNS, Linux/Unix type systems and/or databases
  • GoLang and/or Lua experience
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, Shell
