Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Payroll & Accounting Specialist will be responsible for handling complex Philippines payroll operations, supporting global payroll and monthly accounting processes.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process and manage complex Philippines payroll, ensuring compliance with local laws, including SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, BIR regulations, and benefits administration.
- Support global payroll operations by coordinating with Payroll Manager to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing across multiple countries.
- Assist with the monthly accounting close, including preparing and posting journal entries related to payroll and other financial transactions.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger (GL) accounts relevant to payroll and related expenses for all entities.
- Collaborate closely with the Accounting and Payroll teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data.
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll and accounting.
- Generate and distribute payroll and accounting reports as needed.
- Continuously update knowledge on Philippine payroll laws and global payroll best practices.
- Participate in process improvements and system upgrades for payroll and accounting functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, especially journal entries and GL reconciliations.
- Familiarity with payroll and accounting software. NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
- Ability to work US (EST) hours.
- Experience working in multinational companies.
- Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement attitude.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Philippines payroll processing with proven knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance.
- Experience supporting global or multi-country payroll operations is highly preferred.
