Engineer I Job Description
Title: Engineer I Description As an Engineer I, the person is expected to participate as a mid to senior team member on technical projects. The person is expected to have deep experience and knowledge in their area of expertise with around 8 years of experience in the field. Please note that this is a full-time, direct-hire role. Due to segments of our customer base, we cannot sponsor employment visas. This role is for a mid-level network engineer to work with a Baltimore-based national client with international projects.
In this role, you will be the lead deployment engineer involved in a large multi-year project with significant (up to 18 months) of continuous travel with our end client in North Africa. Responsibilities
- Maintaining and operating next-generation networking hardware, operating system selection, tools, and implementation techniques to meet customer’s requirements
- Supporting the team during the design phase through requirements verification, customer training, and ultimately supporting the customer through field deployment
- Supporting the development and testing of the network and the applications using the network
- Learning other customer-supplied deliverable systems to provide initial troubleshooting of deployed issues with back-end support
- Serving as the deployment subject matter expert (SME) on the deployed network for the end-client and provide support as needed for the following deliverable systems:
- Routers/switches
- Firewalls
- Call Manager Express deployment
- AAA Services
- Network Management systems
Position Requirements
- Cisco Certified Network Engineers must possess a Cisco CCNA or DevNet Associate and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on network experience
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences, as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
- Currently in a location that is commutable on a daily basis to the Baltimore MD area
It would be great if you also had
- Experience with Cisco firewalls, especially Cisco ASA or Firepower
- Experience with network overlays (GRE)
- Experience with Call Manager Express (CME)
- Experience deploying AAA solutions like Cisco ISE or Aruba Clearpass for TACACS/RADIUS
- Experience with the Linux operating system (Ubuntu)
- Strong network troubleshooting skills
- A good understanding of IP addressing
Education
- College degree preferred
- Cisco CCNA or DevNet Associate
Work Conditions
- 40-hour week with availability for off-hours network upgrades as required based on the project while In the US. When deployed Outside of the Continental United States (OCONUS)the work week will be Sunday through Thursday with additional bonuses for travel
- Location: Onsite (Elkridge, MD) with limited remote work while In the US. Offsite at customer facilities while OCONUS
