Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator is an excellent opportunity for career-minded and goal-oriented individuals to provide exceptional managed IT services to our partners. The systems administrator will have primary responsibilities in managing and delivering services for the Collegis corporate enterprise infrastructure and its partners. The position will ensure that the corporation’s IT environment and hosted applications are maintained according to industry’s best practices, are highly available, are secure, and are performing to service level expectations.
This position requires an understanding of IT technologies, hardware, software, and services to ensure proactive monitoring and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure environment. Primary Responsibilities, Essential Functions and Requirements:
- Monitoring, supporting, and troubleshooting incidents related to the enterprise infrastructure.
- Apply patches to supported infrastructure to mitigate risk and enhance performance.
- Ensure successful backups and recoverability of platforms.
- Maintain security procedures and policies set forth by the engineers.
- Leverage IT technologies for rapid deployment and efficient capacity/utilization management.
- Performance tuning of operating systems and applications
- Design, plan, and execute change management activities during evenings, weekends or as required.
- Assist systems engineers to develop technical standards and documentation, identify, and evaluate new products, and provides resolution for network problems.
- Work with systems engineering staff on innovative technologies such as cloud and standard operating procedures.
- Work seamlessly with third party vendors for troubleshooting and escalation of tickets.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience implementing and managing IT technologies.
- Operations experience in 24x7x365 environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication; Must be able to thoroughly document implementations, modifications, and removals.
- Must be willing to work and participate in on-call rotation.
- Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or MIS degree or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting and managing Windows Servers in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace cloud platforms and associated technologies such as Intune, SharePoint, Security etc.
- Strong experience managing and administering Microsoft technologies such as AD, DNS, DHCP, CA,
- Focused on commitment to enhance operational efficiencies through continued process improvement.
- Desire to learn Linux Operating Systems with a goal to become a proficient Linux Administrator.
- Basic understanding of scripting tools like PowerShell with the goal to acquire scripting proficiencies overtime.
- Experience supporting and managing hypervisor platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with hyperconverged platforms (HPE, Dell, VxRail, Nutanix)
- Experience supporting and managing monitoring systems, and backup platforms a plus.
- Experience with educational platforms, a plus.
Education, Certifications and Licensures:
- Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or MIS degree or equivalent experience
Remote/Hybrid Policy:
This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote environment. However, in alignment with our commitment to collaboration and team engagement, candidates within a 60-mile radius of our Chicago, IL headquarters will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule, working onsite 1-2 days per week to support in-person connection and cross-functional partnership.
