This role partners closely with the sales team to identify, prioritize, and close opportunities, while leading and mentoring a team of RFID implementation engineers. The Director focuses on improving project success rates through clear processes, defined standards, and measurable performance metrics. Staying current on adjacent technologies such as mobile computing, vision systems, and IoT integration to ensure scalable, future-ready solutions.

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Strategy & Leadership
- Own the RFID roadmap, and execution framework.
- Define solution architecture, standards, and best practices for RFID delivery.
- Build and maintain partnerships with internal sales, product, and key technology partners.
- Guide selection, testing, and evaluation of RFID technologies.
- Drive alignment with related technology areas such as IoT and automation.
- Contribute to Centers of Excellence and innovation initiatives.
- Establish and track success metrics across pre and post sales and delivery.
- Presales & Customer Engagement
- Partner with sales to qualify RFID opportunities, define scope, and architect solutions.
- Drive new opportunity creation through enablement and strategic account planning.
- Lead or support key presales activities including customer discovery, presentations, technical deep dives, and ROI modeling.
- Participate in pre-call planning, RFP responses, and technical validation of proposed solutions.
- Ensure RFID deployments are aligned to scope, budget, and customer goals.
- Provide paid consulting as required to support customer RFID initiatives.
- Team & Delivery Oversight
- Lead and manage a team of RFID implementation engineers.
- Oversee execution of RFID projects, ensuring quality, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical guidance on complex or strategic implementations.
- Post-Sales Support & Improvement
- Act as Tier 2/3 escalation point for critical RFID issues.
- Analyze support trends and field feedback to improve solution design and implementation standards.
- Identify training needs internally and externally; assist in training delivery as needed.
Requirements
Job Competencies, Skills, & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in RFID technologies, IoT, or automation
- Deep understanding of RFID architecture, standards, and deployment best practices
- Familiarity with IoT ecosystems, edge computing, and related technologies
- Hands-on experience with RFID hardware/software selection, testing, and implementation
- Ability to architect scalable RFID solutions that integrate with enterprise systems
- Strong presales experience, including solution scoping, discovery sessions, and ROI modeling
- Ability to translate technical requirements into business outcomes
- Proven track record of customer-facing consulting or technical engagement
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
- Skilled in mentoring and developing engineering talent
- Capable of managing project timelines, budgets, and delivery expectations
- Ability to serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues
- Experience in creating documentation and training materials based on field learnings
- Skilled in analyzing support data to drive continuous improvement
- Strong capability in defining success metrics and tracking outcomes
- Experience contributing to innovation programs or Centers of Excellence
- Ability to identify market trends and emerging technologies
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred for strategic leadership role
Environment and Normal Working Conditions
Office environment. Core business hours are generally 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, this position will/may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on Company operations.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting including verbally communicating, seeing and hearing to exchange information and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Daily physical functions may include standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. The employee may engage in lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds.
The position also requires the operation of office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.

Salary Description$165,000 - $175,000 annual salary
