In this role, you’ll be working on a bunch of different things at any given time, all the way from an employee’s first day to their last—and everything in between. You’ll work for Cognira and our sister company, RetSci, and you’ll report to the People Operations Manager, who’s based in the U.S., but you’ll be the go-to People Ops contact for all other countries.
You’re a perfect fit if you don’t mind a healthy mix of repetitive tasks and creative, maybe-even-a-little-crazy ideation for giving our employees the best possible experience.This is an entry-to-mid level role (we’re open to different experience levels and will match the compensation package accordingly) based in Tunis. You’ll have the opportunity to grow into a senior People Ops position or a specialization over time.What you will do:
- Keep our employee records up-to-date, including
- Launching onboarding and offboarding tasks and guiding employees through them.
- Making updates to titles/org structure/PTO balances. (You’re basically the Vacation Keeper. POWER!!!)
- Manage People Operations programs, including
- Performance reviews
- Our mentorship program (Turning caterpillars into butterflies.)
- Employee satisfaction surveys (Do they really like us?)
- Exit interviews across global offices (🎵Now that we’ve come to the end of the road…🎵)
- Be a one-person welcome committee for new hires.
- Help us have fun. Examples include
- Joining our Social Committee.
- Planning and organizing company events.
- Experimenting with new, exciting ways to strengthen relationships between our employees.
- Representing Cognira and RetSci at university career fairs and recruiting events — in your own voice and style.
- Build a Bridge of Uncommon Communication between senior leadership and on-the-ground employees.
- Ensure we are in compliance with Tunisian labor laws.
- Manage one-off projects in collaboration with the head of People Operations.
- Work out of our Tunis office four days a week (and one day remotely).
- Save globally overlapping work hours (2 - 5 p.m. CET) for international meetings.
- Take on other projects as they come up — some fun, some mundane, all important.
What you bring to the table:
- Strong English-speaking and writing skills.
- A detective’s nose for sniffing out staffing and teamwork issues.
- An appropriately nerdy organizational system for getting things done on time.
- A Love (capital L) for people.
- An ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Tons of ideas for improving our performance and culture (without being asked).
- A working knowledge of Tunisian labor laws (or the willingness to learn fast after starting).
Even better if:
- You have experience working in or with a US-based organization.
- HR or People Ops experience won’t hurt, but it’s not all that important.
- Can you handle a large amount of tasks on a deadline? Are you hungry to learn new things at work?
- A “yes” to the above is much more important than HR knowledge. (We can teach you that.)
- You have experience with BambooHR and Slack.
- You bring your personality to work — whatever that looks like.
