This includes overseeing IT infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity, vendor relationships, and user support. The IT Manager ensures technology solutions align with the mission of the organization, meet compliance and funding requirements, and support the efficient delivery of services in a cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
· Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational goals.· Evaluate and recommend cost-effective technology solutions to improve program and administrative operations.· Advise leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities for innovation.· Infrastructure & Systems Management· Oversee the management of all hardware, software, networks, cloud systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint), and telecommunications.· Ensure reliable connectivity and data access across geographically dispersed offices and remote staff.· Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
· Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures, including data privacy and access control.· Manage data backup and disaster recovery plans.· Ensure compliance with grantor, HIPAA, and other regulatory technology requirements.
Help Desk & End-User Support
· Provide technical support for staff with varying levels of tech proficiency.· Supervise or coordinate help desk requests and maintain an efficient ticketing system.· Develop and deliver user-friendly training and documentation for staff.
Project Management & Implementation
· Lead IT-related projects including hardware upgrades, system migrations, and software deployments.· Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships and contracts.· Track project milestones and manage budgets and timelines.
Vendor & Contract Oversight
· Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and technology vendors.· Negotiate and review service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure service quality and value.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).· 5+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2 years in a management or lead role.· Experience in the nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, and IT infrastructure.· Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, risk management, and compliance frameworks.· Excellent project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.· Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.· Commitment to the mission and values of a nonprofit organization.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.· Occasional travel to remote sites or partner locations.· May require lifting up to 25 pounds for hardware installations.
