This newly created position will require the leadership of an experienced project manager.This position will be critical in optimizing the work being done at our first-ever wood fiber insulation plant in North America and will grow with multiple future locations.This dual role will require focus on the ground-breaking work being done at the flagship plant and will be transferred/implemented in multiple future plants.This position is anticipated to grow into a multi-site project leadership role with various direct reports.Requirements
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Work cross functionally to identify opportunities for operational efficiency improvements which may include but are not limited to warehouse optimization and material flow, production line optimization projects, reduction of scrap and material waste, and reduced consumption of utilities.
- With Finance, lead or support a process to quantify potential returns for each initiative and be able to provide recommendations for prioritization.
- Work with external partners to manage projects to completion and help ensure return expectations are achieved.
- Lead project management focused on construction management, planning, scheduling, and budget/finance management, as well as design support, equipment/material sourcing, and contract and internal personnel management.
- Future project development, planning, and engineering management
- Develop and manage the five-year Capex plan.
- Coordinate with production managers to recommend and implement Capex projects.
- Work with the operations team to organize and prioritize projects: environmental and safety, capacity increase, efficiency gain, major maintenance, energy savings.
- Work with area managers/supervisors to calculate ROI
- Develop a project team to implement approved Capex projects
- Estimate, design and oversee all aspects of each project
- Lead a multi-functional engineering team of in-house and/or consultant engineers
- Manage project vendors to ensure document and equipment deliveries are met as required
- Lead and participate in sales contract negotiations with suppliers for high dollar value capital purchases
- Create, maintain, and present suite of budget management tools as required for original budget and changes in project scope
- Interview and vet contractors and vendors for future plant projects
- Lead the development of future projects
- Take future Madison projects from idea conception, through pre-design and RFP to proposal selections, negotiation, and purchase, to execution and construction
Qualifications/Required Skills:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Effectively communicate with all levels of project contributors and company leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and Outlook
- Proven analytical thinking and strategic planning
- Independently motivated/self-directed
- Flexible with new processes and assignments
- Project engineering knowledge to ensure successful project completion by managing the scope, schedule and budget
- Ability to work as a team player to achieve overall success
Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- PMP Certification preferred
- Experience leading a team of direct reports (ex. project engineers)
- Experience directing the successful management of contractors, consulting engineering groups, major equipment suppliers and multiple vendors through RFQ, contract negotiations, and contract disputes
- Experience with successfully managing the scope, schedule, and budget of all projects with an ability to create reports/presentations for senior leadership review and updates
- Proven ability to coordinate all technical disciplines to ensure successful projects (electrical, mechanical, operational)
- Process planning and optimization
- Cost management
- Compliance and risk management
- 10 years in similar role, manufacturing preferred
