TemporaryDescriptionThis two-year grant funded position manages all aspects of this project designed to contribute to the college and career readiness of teens in Kansas City. Working under the direction of the Deputy Director, Youth & Family Engagement and with a grant implementation planning team, this position will ensure grant requirements are met, coordinate partnership development, track budget, coordinate timelines, and aid in program development. This is a temporary, two-year grant funded position with a starting salary of $50,382, with excellent benefits.
Position is open until filled.
Location
Central Library: 14 West 10th Street, KCMO, 64105.
Schedule
Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 5 pm; occasional evenings and Saturdays.
Job Duties (Essential Functions)
Work with planning team to coordinate all aspects of the grant implementation related to teen mentorship, including college and career focused programming. Create communication pieces to inform various constituencies of this project, both internal staff and external partners as well as teen participants. Identify and recruit potential partners, including but not limited to local higher education institutions, trade organizations, high schools, and local organizations aiding teens in preparing for college and/or careers. Create a shareable database of these partners. Coordinate field trips for staff and teens to colleges, trade schools, and other higher education institutions. Work with other staff members to develop college/career fairs for library locations. Contact and build relationships with trade organizations who provide introductions and trainings for teens interested in their fields. Develop methods for teen input including but not limited to surveys. Document project progress using video, audio, photography, and written word. Conduct a literature review and create a library of resources that inform the project. Working with planning team, creates a sustainability plan for the program following the grant completion. Attends all Youth & Family Engagement staff meetings and meetings related to the grant project. Represents the Library in meetings with partners. Attends training, locally, as required. Maintains current Microsoft Outlook calendar that is shared with planning team. Performs other related work and undertakes special projects as assigned. Requirements
Demonstrated ability in project management. Experience in and enjoyment of working with teenagers. Working knowledge of adolescent development. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated capacity for responding to changing circumstances and expectations. Advanced computer skills.Possess a valid driver’s license and means of transportation throughout the Library service area. Ability to speak and understand English is required. Additional consideration will be given to individuals that are proficient in any non-English languages utilized in Jackson County, MO, including Spanish, American Sign Language, Vietnamese, French, Arabic, and Swahili.Ability to work with diverse populations (I.e. age, gender, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.) Able to lift 30 lbs. Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in secondary education, social work, or related field or the equivalent combination of appropriate degree and applicable work experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in grant management preferred.
Work Environment
Work is performed at the Central Library. May be assigned to work at other Library locations depending on need. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers and will be performed in a public space amongst staff and patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.
