www.ford-gelatt.comShop Support/DraftsmanPosition Summary:The Shop Support/Draftsman position will support our Rotating Equipment Repair business. This position will report to the Operations Manager, and work together with the Shop Foreman, Technical Repair Specialist and Inside Shop Coordinator. This position will be responsible for both providing shop drawings and repair reports, as well as participating in overall repair responsibilities, including purchasing and quoting repair jobs.Responsibilities:1. Interpret specifications and customer requirements to create/modify drawings2. Create shop drawings from customer-supplied prints3. Create shop drawings from conceptual designs.4. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments5.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of all CAD work, and maintain electronic database for drawings and job file organization6. Design fixtures and jigs to improve repair processes7. Prepare end-of-job repair reports for customers8. Qualify outside shops and be responsible for making sure quality inspection forms are received9. Assist management in associate development/training in relation to shop documentation best practices10. Assist with preparing repair quotes11. Assist with ordering materials and expediting12.
Assist with other job management functions as neededQualifications:1. Associates Degree in CAD, or equivalent, with technical knowledge of mechanical drawings2. Ability to draw parts and be proficient in CAD/CAM applications3. Ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings, geometric dimensions, tolerances and quality specifications4. Familiarity with machining, welding and general shop processes5. Ability to work directly with shop employees, management and other support staff6. Good written and verbal communication skills7.
