Job Summary:
The Wellbriety Coordinator will work one on one with members of Chief Seattle Club from beginning to the end of their Wellbriety Treatment Plan. The coordinator will monitor their success and build out their treatment plan to connect to internal or external partners. The Wellbriety Coordinator will be responsible for reporting to the Traditional Wellness Manager and placed on the traditional wellness team. The Wellbriety Coordinator will have 1:1 meetings with members, travel between Chief Seattle Club sites to run Wellbriety groups, drum groups, and connect members to services.
This position is to support the Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual health utilizing Red Road teachings. This role will ensure that all members experience Chief Seattle Club as a place grounded in Native culture that nurtures, affirms, and strengthens the spirit of urban Native people.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates with site staff to Lead cultural wellness activities that are accessible to all members/residents and incorporate a variety of traditional practices such as sweat lodge, Wellbriety groups, talking circles, drum groups, use of traditional medicines, etc.
- Maintains circle of care files for each member to monitor their progress through their Wellbriety Wellness Plan.
- Encourages healthy and positive life-skills for members.
- Encourages/motivates positive behaviors and promotes compliance with all program requirements.
- Compiles, analyzes and maintains complete, accurate and timely records of contacts and tribal information.
- Conducts Wellbriety groups centered around the Wellbriety movement.
- Presents written and oral reports to the Chief Traditional Officer at the end of each month to report for the board of directors’ report.
- Suggests/offers services and resources that support successful member rehabilitation.
- Creates a system that is harboring trusting and supportive relationships with residents, members, and staff through regular presence in community spaces and events. This would be in connection with service metrics and deliverables.
- Assists and supports on site staff with de-escalation and crisis intervention as requested and needed.
- Develops a CSC approved network, of clinical mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers for external referral as requested by resident/members.
- Manages & supports the harvesting or acquiring of traditional medicines for wellness activities as well as the proper use and preparation of medicines.
- Conducts regular meetings with supervisor once a week.
- Participate in mandatory staff meetings and activities as requested.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality concerning program participants, staff, and other applicable parties.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
:
Education & Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, or related field preferred.
- 1-5 years’ experience in working with co-occurring disorders. Must also have lay counseling, peer support, or other mental health support experience.
- Must have strong understanding of relapse prevention, addiction, Medicine Wheel and 12 steps program training.
- Strong background in traditional ceremonial, cultural, and medicine practices.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certification in State of Washington peer counselor within 30 days of date of hire.
- Certification in Wellbriety/White Bison programming or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of traditional forms of government and tribal customs and traditions.
- Ability to develop and offer program presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and contribute to the creation of an inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, or related field.
- Previous experience working in tribal, Native-led, or culturally specific settings.
- CPR/First Aid certified.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: work at a stationary work space for long periods of time, with mobility to move throughout the office; use a PC, constantly reaching with hands and fingers and keyboarding extensively; work with team as frequent communication is required, including use of the telephone; be able to read and write documents in hard and electronic copy, including those requiring great attention to detail; have the physical strength and agility to handle routine office tasks and machinery.
Occasional travel may be required for certain employees depending on location. This position is typically in an office environment with desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. Noise level is moderate. Frequent interruptions are common, while under deadlines and time constraints.Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma.
