Job Duties: Apply industrial and regulatory criteria to perform Safety Objective analysis or other risk assessments. Perform Safety Integrity Level (SIL) calculations/analysis and hazard analysis as required by engineering teams. Compile information and update Logic development, including logic narratives and logic diagrams. Design and implement industrial automation and control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) programming and panel design for specific industrial real-time applications. Develop Test Procedures with automatic testing or formal verification to test and verify Safety Instrumented Functions and Systems. Work with engineering teams to assist with proposal development. Perform Cutovers, loop checks, and provide start-up assistance and troubleshooting. Provide Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) support, participation and facilitation as required. Provide initial training in operation and maintenance of the installed Safety Instrumented Systems. Conduct assigned Safety Audits and Assessments and provide auditing, modeling, and siting support.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technological field, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 12 years of experience as a Technologist, Engineer, or Consultant in the functional safety arena or similar work environment involving process safety, electrical, or control systems. All experience must include experience in: scoping and detailing system philosophy for large size projects including scope change notices; specification engineering, design, and selection of overall control and SIS systems including IPLs/SIFs from PHA and/or LOPA; developing and recommending estimates, budgets, and schedules; assisting with manpower staffing requirements for project construction; interfacing with all client personnel and assisting with direction of staff and CAD resources; implementing standards, procedures, and tools while maintaining company and client safety policies; providing mentorship, assistance, and direction to other engineers; designing systems engineering, distributive, and/or computer controls of processes; design work such as installation drawings and details, loops drawings, logic diagrams, and vendor drawings for technical SIS projects; Burner Management Systems and Combustion Control Systems including furnaces, heaters, boilers, fuel air ratio, and steam drum level control; Factory Acceptance Testing; DCS/SIS/PLC/HMI Programming; downstream/refining/chemical SIS; and developing test procedures.
Must have CFSE or equivalent certification. Up to 20% U.S. domestic travel is required.Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
