CPower is based in Baltimore, MD., and is owned by LS Power, a development, investment and operating company focused on the power and energy infrastructure sector.We are looking for a Director, Strategic Finance to lead our financial strategy and drive enterprise-wide decision-making for our demand response business.
This executive position combines advanced financial planning and analysis (FP&A) with strategic business operations (BizOps) to optimize corporate performance and accelerate our growth in the evolving energy markets.
This is a remote position with a preference for candidates who are within the Baltimore, MD area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide financial models, including long-term forecasting, strategic planning, and complex scenario analysis.
- Support executive leadership and board presentations with strategic financial insights and recommendations.
- Lead quarterly and annual financial planning processes.
Business Operations and Strategic Initiatives
- Execute high-impact strategy projects requiring advanced data analysis, energy market research, and senior leadership communication.
- Identify and evaluate growth opportunities, operational efficiencies, and revenue optimization initiatives across our demand response platform.
- Collaborate with CEO, CFO, and senior leadership to align financial strategy with business objectives and market opportunities.
Public Company Transition Leadership
- Support comprehensive preparation for transition to public company status
- Assist in implementing public company financial reporting standards, internal controls, and governance frameworks
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Manage and develop finance team members.
- Partner with senior business leaders including CEO, CFO, COO, CSO and Head of Technology to drive strategic initiatives.
- Communicate complex financial insights and energy market dynamics to non-finance stakeholders effectively.
- Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Technology teams to optimize business performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant work experience with proven leadership capabilities.
- FP&A / Financial Modeling Experience: Expert-level experience in complex financial modeling at operating companies, and/or Investment Banking with focus on energy/natural resources sectors.
- BizOps Experience: Proven track record of executing strategic projects and data-driven decision-making. Experience in Strategy or BizOps at operating companies, and/or Management Consulting with energy sector focus.
- Banking/Private Equity Background: 3+ years experience in investment banking, private equity, or energy-focused investment roles with demonstrated M&A transaction experience and deal leadership.
- Natural Resources/Energy Sector: Deep operational experience in energy, oil & gas, mining, or related natural resources sectors.
- Advanced analytical skills with expert proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools.
- Deep understanding of energy markets, commodity dynamics, and demand response business models.
- Proven ability to build and develop high-performing finance teams.
- Strong strategic thinking capabilities with ability to translate market dynamics into actionable financial strategies.
