Job Title: Temporary Human Resources Generalist


Duration: 4-6 weeks


Location: Tamuning, GU (On-site)


Job Summary


The Human Resource Generalist will support the daily functions of the Human Resources department including talent acquisition, talent development, employee relations, performance management, benefits, compensation, and compliance with labor laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices and guiding employees and leaders on company policies and practices. 

Essential Duties


  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and occupational health and safety.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employment eligibility verifications.  
  • Implements new hire orientation and onboarding.  
  • Identify training needs, develop training programs, and facilitate training sessions to enhance employee skills and career development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to management.  
  • Conducts employee relations investigations related to complaints and grievances, documenting findings, recommending appropriate actions, and overseeing the full cycle of closing investigations.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to leaders and employees.
  • Conduct regular audits of employee benefit files, ensuring compliance and accuracy; respond to and address any benefits-related questions from client groups, providing clear and comprehensive information as needed.                                                                                        
  • Maintains compliance with federal and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.  
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Required Skills and Abilities


  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. 
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration preferred; or equivalent work experience in a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in a Human Resources role, preferably as an HR Generalist is required.

Physical Demands


  • Prolonged periods of sitting and viewing computer screens.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and criminal background check.                     
  • Must be willing to participate in a drug/alcohol screen prior to hire.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
