Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region.  Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.

SUMMARY:

The HR intern will assist with multiple tasks within the HR department; these tasks will include HR administrative work and HR projects. The intern will have an opportunity to learn many aspects of HR, including compensation, benefits, recruitment, employee relations, employee communication, orientation, onboarding, and offboarding among other functions. The intern will have an opportunity to shadow each member of the HR team and work independently. This is an amazing growth and development opportunity for a college student pursuing a degree in Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Teamwork

  • Work proactively with other team members
  • Handle employee requests and deliver quality solutions if able, or escalate the request to a more senior team member
  • Openly sharing new ideas and information with other team members
    • Recruitment

  • Close out all openings in JazzHR and status changes
  • Send rejection letters as directed by HR team
  • Attend and assist with recruitment events
    • Onboarding

  • Organize new hire packets
  • Assist in coordinating drug testing and physicals
  • Assist with orientation and preparation
  • Assist new employees at the kiosk
  • Help conduct facility tours
  • Following up with new employees
  • Create initial personnel files and audit current files
    • Address employee queries about benefits (like number of remaining PTO days)
    • Begin to develop a current knowledge of HR Laws and Regulations
    • Assists with compliance
    • Communications

  • Assist with benefit eligibility, enrollment, and termination
  • Assist with digital displays and electronic communications
  • Track employee responses
  • Manage employment verification letters
    • Assist HR Manager with Unemployment Compensation tasks
    • Assist HR Manager with all LOA’s, FMLA and other leaves of absence
    • Help in organizing company events and corporate activities
    • Document Maintenance

  • Assist with document retention policy
  • Filing of hard copies of documents into personnel files.
  • Assist with transfer of data in iSolved
  • Maintain an I-9 folder
  • Proofread HR documents including policies, marketing information, and handbooks

  • SKILLS REQUIRED and QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Ability to work well as a team and independently
    • Ability to work on an assigned project independently
    • Critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources
    • Ability to always maintain confidential and sensitive information
    • Ability to work in office on a part time schedule
