You'll work closely with our Houston vCIO team lead and senior vCIO, learning proven methodologies while building your own client relationships. This role offers the chance to grow your expertise in strategic technology consulting within our established Houston market presence.
You'll partner with Houston's diverse business community across healthcare, professional services, manufacturing, and energy sectors. Your local market knowledge and relationship-building skills will be crucial as you help these businesses navigate technology decisions that impact their growth, efficiency, and competitive positioning.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
Strategic Technology Partnership (50%)
- Client Relationship Development: Build trusted advisory relationships with Houston business owners and key decision-makers
- Business Technology Alignment: Learn to translate business goals into actionable technology strategies and roadmaps
- Strategic Planning Support: Participate in quarterly business technology reviews and assist with technology budget development
- Risk Assessment: Conduct cybersecurity assessments and contribute to business continuity planning
- Emerging Technology Guidance: Stay current with AI, cloud automation, and security trends to advise clients on digital transformation
Technical Account Management (30%)
- Environment Assessment: Evaluate client IT infrastructure using industry-standard tools and methodologies
- Solution Development: Collaborate with senior vCIOs to develop strategic technology proposals and implementation plans
- Project Coordination: Work with our project management team to oversee infrastructure improvements and technology deployments
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technology roadmaps, assessment reports, and strategic planning documents
- Vendor Relations: Assist with vendor evaluation, contract negotiations, and relationship management
Business Development & Growth (20%)
- Pre-Sales Support: Conduct Business Technology Assessments (BTAs) for prospective Houston-area clients
- Client Presentations: Present technology findings and recommendations to executive teams
- Account Expansion: Identify growth opportunities within existing client relationships
- Market Development: Support sales efforts and participate in Houston business networking events

Required Experience & Skills
Professional Background
- 5-10 years in IT support, consulting, or managed services environment
- 2-3 years of client-facing experience with demonstrated relationship-building success
- Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- Proven track record of managing multiple client relationships and technical projects simultaneously
Technical Competencies
- Strong foundation in Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, and network infrastructure
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, backup/disaster recovery, and compliance requirements
- Experience with technology assessment tools and documentation practices
- Understanding of cloud migration strategies, virtualization, and modern IT infrastructure
- Familiarity with MSP tools (ConnectWise, Autotask, or similar PSA/RMM platforms preferred)
Business & Communication Skills
- Excellent presentation skills for executive-level audiences and technical stakeholders
- Strong written communication for creating technology roadmaps and assessment reports
- Project management experience with ability to coordinate multiple initiatives
- Financial acumen to understand technology ROI and budget implications
- Houston market knowledge and established local professional network preferred
