We partner with financial institutions and fintechs to deliver intelligent, secure, and connected experiences for consumers. With more than 200 million consumers reached through our partners and over 16,000 connections to financial institutions, MX is transforming how people interact with their money.MX is looking to add a business intelligence engineer to the business intelligence team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining KPIs that support management in assessing performance against objectives and in critical business decision making.

Job Duties


  • Design and deliver outcome-driven dashboards and reports that guide decisions and drive business results
  • Define, build, and maintain KPIs and core metrics that align with company goals and departmental objectives
  • Partner with stakeholders to shape metric definitions, improve reporting workflows, and ensure data is used, not just seen
  • Consult on system design and business processes to ensure data is trackable, accessible, and trustworthy
  • Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues through validation frameworks, bug tracking, and collaboration with data engineering
  • Lead and execute end-to-end BI projects—from scoping and analysis to build and rollout—with minimal oversight
  • Translate messy or incomplete data into insights that help teams act confidently and quickly
  • Contribute to a culture of data-driven thinking by sharing analytical best practices, reusable assets, and tools

Basic Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or similar in business management, information systems, software engineering, or finance
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases; experience with ETL design and data modeling
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and presentation tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Slides)
  • Proven ability to translate stakeholder needs into scalable, decision-ready data solutions
  • Experience defining and managing KPIs, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous or incomplete data to surface insights

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in Business
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, R) and version control systems (Git/GitLab)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decisions
  • Experience with Domo

Work Environment


At MX, we utilize a hybrid work model, which allows us to attract top talent and increase impact through collaboration. Our team members enjoy a balance of remote work and in-office days. Travel expectations for remote employees is about 15%, and the company covers travel expenses for remote employees. Local employees will utilize in-office time on a weekly basis Tuesday through Thursday.
