Essential Functions The Math Coach plays a pivotal role in enhancing the mathematical understanding and skills of students across various grade levels. This position focuses on developing and implementing effective instructional strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and needs. The Math Coach will collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment that fosters student engagement and achievement in mathematics. By analyzing student performance data, the Math Coach will identify areas for improvement and provide targeted professional development for educators.

Ultimately, the goal is to elevate the overall math proficiency of students, ensuring they are well-prepared for future academic challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification in mathematics or a related subject area.
  • At least three years of classroom teaching experience in mathematics.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring teachers in a professional development capacity.
  • Familiarity with current educational technology and resources for math instruction.

Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with teachers to design and implement effective math instruction and assessment strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions for educators to enhance their teaching practices.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement in math education.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development workshops focused on best practices in math instruction.
  • Support the integration of technology and innovative resources into the math curriculum.

Skills:


The required skills for this position include strong analytical abilities to assess student performance data and identify areas for improvement. Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with teachers and providing constructive feedback. The ability to design engaging professional development workshops is crucial for fostering a culture of continuous learning among educators. Preferred skills, such as proficiency in educational technology, will enhance the Math Coach's ability to integrate innovative resources into the curriculum.

Overall, these skills will be utilized daily to create a positive impact on both teachers and students, ultimately leading to improved math outcomes.

Additional Experience:


  • Experience working in an urban school environment.
  • Acceptable criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multi-cultural awareness.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Utilize proper discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
  • Work well without close supervision and with little direction. 
  • Be able to solve problems independently and manage projects alone.
  • Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
