ROLE SUMMARY
The Mechanical UHP Engineer is responsible for improving the cost-efficiency, serviceability, and long-term reliability of Flow International’s Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) systems. This role supports the full product lifecycle, including design enhancements, field support, and documentation to ensure optimal performance in customer applications. The ideal candidate will apply innovative mechanical engineering solutions to reduce service costs and ensure sustained customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Field Service Engineers, Engineering, and Product Management to enhance product reliability and reduce lifecycle service costs.
- Investigate and analyze field data and customer feedback to resolve mechanical design and reliability issues in UHP systems.
- Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventive actions for systemic issues.
- Provide input during design reviews to ensure new and modified products meet reliability, maintainability, and safety standards.
- Design and validate mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks and other engineering tools.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation, including documenting results and refining designs accordingly.
- Create and update detailed technical documentation including service manuals, troubleshooting guides, installation instructions, and service bulletins.
- Develop serviceability improvements and implement changes in partnership with the Technical Services and Field teams.
- Travel to customer sites to collect usage data, provide on-site troubleshooting, and support critical installations.
- Maintain and update a knowledge base to support internal and external stakeholders in resolving technical issues.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $85,000 to $125,000, commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to mechanical system troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), capable of engaging with technical and non-technical audiences, including customers.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across departments.
- Strong interpersonal skills to drive cross-functional initiatives and customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Ability to travel on short notice and handle travel-related logistics and expenses.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical product development, sustaining engineering, or field support.
- Preferred: Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) with 0–2 years of experience.
- Experience with high-pressure fluid systems, hydraulics, or related capital equipment is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with UHP waterjet or fluid systems.
- Experience in manufacturing environments or field engineering roles.
Knowledge of reliability engineering, FMEA, or Six Sigma methodologies
