Software Development Manager - Voice


Why We Have This Role


The Qualtrics CX Engineering is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead its Voice team. The Voice team builds the services and tools that load and transcribe over 1M calls per day across hundreds of customers. These tools run entirely at AWS using Kubernetes, Dynamo, SQS/SNS, RDS, DocumentDB, and a variety of other technologies.  We are seeking a leader for this team who will accelerate Qualtrics' ability to scale across data volumes, data centers, spoken languages, and user audiences.

  • Establishing productive working relationships with other platform teams, customers, and subject matter experts

  • Crafting and delivering upon the Northstar vision for the team in a highly ambiguous space
  • Mentoring all levels of engineers, both technically and in their careers
  • Continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and move fast to deliver new features and capabilities

How You’ll Grow


  • You will be expected to gain a deep understanding of our horizontally scalable tech stacks, both in terms of how to build them and how to operate them.
  • You will grow as a leader, coaching both junior and senior engineers and defining the technology and hiring plans for the team.

Things You’ll Do


  • Author the Northstar vision and roadmap for the team and create quarterly plans that accrue to that vision
  • Instill best practices for the software development lifecycle and operations across the team
  • Actively manage the team, gathering and providing candid feedback, mentoring and coaching individuals, and delegating appropriately
  • Maintain active expertise in the telephony, transcription, and high-scale processing spaces, as well as understanding the industry for these domains
  • Collaborate with leaders and teams across a variety of geographies and disciplines
  • Influence the way that engineers at Qualtrics build software through best-in-class tooling and services

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume


  • Technical leadership or management of a team of software developers ranging from graduate level to senior engineers
  • Strong background and technical capabilities in object-oriented design and development using modern programming languages (Typescript, Golang, Python)
  • Experience in full stack development and frameworks (React, Node.js)
  • Expertise in building and scaling distributed systems
  • Expertise in AWS cost management and optimization
  • Proven record of delivering enterprise software
  • Evidence of continuous learning and improvement
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
