Job Description


Vorbeck is seeking a hands-on Operator to support both laboratory and production operations in a dynamic R&D and manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with chemical formulations and mechanical systems.You will assist with formulation preparation and testing, maintain lab equipment, and help with daily facility operations such as equipment maintenance and shipping/receiving. This role plays a key part in ensuring that both lab and production spaces remain safe, organized, and operational.

Laboratory Support:


  • Assist in preparing chemical formulations and test samples (e.g., inks, foams, coatings).
  • Perform routine lab tests (pH, viscosity, surface tension, etc.) and support the use of analytical instruments (e.g., FTIR, balances, mixers).
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Accurately document test results and maintain lab notebooks.
  • Support proper labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and materials.
  • Assist in calibrating equipment and performing basic troubleshooting or preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in team meetings, share observations, and contribute to process improvements or experimental planning as appropriate.

Operations Support:


  • Operate and maintain production and lab equipment; perform routine preventive maintenance.
  • Support general upkeep of shared facility spaces including labs, workshops, and storage areas.
  • Participate in shipping and receiving, including packaging, labeling, and tracking materials.
  • Conduct safety checks and support compliance with OSHA and internal protocols.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:


  • Work closely with R&D, production, and operations teams to support active projects.
  • Assist with equipment moves, facility modifications, and system installations, including support for Vorbeck’s upcoming facility relocation.
  • Assist with other duties as needed, such as generation and protection of intellectual property and other ad-hoc assignments.
  • Travel: (Expected 10%)

Qualifications


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Chemistry, Engineering Technology, Materials Science) is a plus.
  • OSHA certification or safety training preferred.
  • Certifications for heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, scissor lift) and relevant operations experience are preferred.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience in a lab, manufacturing, or technical environment (through coursework, internships, or prior work).
  • Exposure to chemical handling, lab safety, or mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, industry compliance, or building codes is a plus.
  • Experience using basic lab instruments and workshop tools.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail with good organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and safety protocols.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable learning equipment operation and basic repairs.
  • Clear communicator and dependable team player.
  • Flexible and proactive in supporting team and facility needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb stairs/ladders regularly.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly as part of daily responsibilities.

 Full-time, 40 hours per week

 In-Office
Pay Range: $25/hour - $30/hour, based on experience
