VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Developer to serve as the Technical Lead for a critical modernization initiative. This role will lead the transition of a legacy PHP application from CodeIgniter to Laravel, setting the architectural direction, mentoring other developers, and driving the successful delivery of a cloud-based web solution. The ideal candidate brings deep Laravel experience, full-stack capability, and a passion for solving complex problems with clean, scalable code.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of modern Laravel applications.
- Oversee migration from CodeIgniter to Laravel with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and clean architecture.
- Mentor developers, uphold code quality, and foster team knowledge-sharing.
- Write secure, maintainable code with strong documentation and testing.
- Review and approve code to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies via Microsoft Teams.
- Track tasks and deliverables using internal project tools.
- Stay up to date on security protocols and development trends.
- Tackle complex problems independently while supporting team growth.
- Design with empathy and prioritize the user experience.
- Collaborate effectively to support shared goals.
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years in full-stack PHP development with deep Laravel experience.
- Proven success migrating legacy applications like CodeIgniter.
- Proficient in Vue.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and preprocessors like SASS/LESS.
- Git expertise and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs.
- Detail-oriented and user-focused approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. work authorization required.

- Experience with Docker and containerized development.
- Familiarity with AWS services and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong SQL and database optimization skills.
- Background in healthcare or government projects.
- Passion for creating intuitive, high-performance UIs.
