We have an immediate opening for a Research Intern (8-12 month term, September 2025 start). This position is available in Calgary, AB.
- How we plan on keeping you busy:Contribute to the development of new formulations for mRNA delivery
- Support general laboratory activities such as buffer preparation and cleaning of equipment
- Perform analytical tests
- Support researchers in formulation manufacturing
- Maintain good laboratory practices and good documentation practices
- Follow standard procedures and keep electronic laboratory notebook experiments updated
- Work as part of a team to meet deliverables on time
- Collaborate with internal and external partners as required
- Other duties as assigned
What will help you get here:
Essential:
- Must be enrolled as a post-secondary student during the work term
- Currently pursuing a degree in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a biology, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, or chemistry laboratory environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately follow experimental protocols.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), mRNA therapeutics, or drug delivery systems is an asset.
- Previous hands-on laboratory experience, especially with nanoparticle formulation, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and basic biochemical assays (e.g., UV-Vis, fluorescence-based methods).
- Understanding of formulation concepts such as buffer selection, pH control, and stability testing.
- Good understanding of GLP/GMP.
