SUMMARY:
The Director, Commercial Finance will serve as a strategic partner to the Commercial, Marketing, Product, and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) teams, providing financial leadership, insights, and decision support to drive revenue growth and profitability. This role will lead revenue forecasting, budgeting, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and payer reimbursement modeling to support Baylor Genetics’ growth and financial performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, ideally in diagnostics, biotech, or healthcare.
- Deep understanding of commercial finance, pricing, and payer reimbursement dynamics.
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP and BI tools (e.g., NetSuite, Tableau, Workday Adaptive, Power BI).
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and attention to detail.
- Excellent in time management - proven ability to work on and manage multiple projects within tight timelines and in a fast-paced growth environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Revenue Forecasting & Planning:
- Develop and maintain accurate revenue forecasts by test type, payer channel (insurance/institutional), and sales region.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Lab, and Client Services to incorporate pipeline insights and growth assumptions.
- In partnership with Corporate Finance, support the development of the annual revenue and volume budgets, commercial operating budgets, and long-range strategic planning initiatives.
- Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align forecast and operational plans.
- Commercial Finance Leadership:
- Serve as the primary finance partner to Commercial leadership, providing insights and decision support.
- Lead monthly performance reviews, variance analysis, and strategic scenario modeling.
- Support sales incentive plan design and performance tracking.
- Pricing & Profitability Analysis:
- Conduct detailed margin analysis by customer, payer, and product line.
- Support the development of pricing strategies and discount policies to optimize profitability.
- Collaborate with Sales and RCM teams to evaluate contract terms and payer profitability.
- Provide financial modeling and business case development for new product launches, market expansion, and strategic initiatives.
- Payer Reimbursement & Billing Alignment:
- Analyze revenue realization and denial trends by payer to identify risks and opportunities.
- Partner with RCM to model the financial impact of payer policy changes and reimbursement shifts.
- Recommend payer prioritization and contracting strategies based on financial performance metrics.
- Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
- Lead and mentor financial analyst(s).
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, tools, and reporting capabilities.
