The Job Details
As a Senior Database Administrator with a strong SQL development focus, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of all our database systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL Server and PostgreSQL).
- Design and implement database structures and schemas that support business requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Collaborate on database architecture decisions.
- Support database deployments and schema changes in coordination with engineers responsible for development and DevOps.
- Monitor,maintain, and enhance database tuning and optimization using performance monitoring tools and SQL profiling.
- Automate routine tasks through scripting and modern tools.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of database systems.
- Develop and enforce database security policies, access controls, and compliance standards.
- Create and maintain documentation related to architecture, processes, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot database issues quickly and effectively and provide on-call support as needed.
- Implement and maintain data security policies, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong experience with RDBMS platforms (Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL).
- Experience with cloud databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
- Expert-level SQL development skills, with proven ability to write efficient, complex queries.
- Solid understanding of database design principles, indexing strategies, and normalization/denormalization.
- Understanding of data security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with database monitoring, profiling, and diagnostic tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, Query Store, pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, pg_stat_monitor, New Relic, Zabbix).
- Experience with backup/recovery tools and strategies (e.g., SQL Server Maintenance Plans, pgBackRest, native pg_dump/pg_restore, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), cloud-native backups on AWS/Azure).
- Proficient in database scripting, automation, and performance optimization using tools like T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, SQLCMD, psql, PowerShell, cron jobs, and pgTune.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) and version control (e.g., Git, GitLab, GitHub) for managing database scripts and deployment workflows.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with migrating databases from SQL Server to PostgreSQL is highly desirable, including schema conversion, data transformation, and compatibility tuning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines for database changes.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified DBA, AWS Certified Database Specialty).

Location & Working Model
We are working on a full remote model. We have a physical office in İstanbul(Ataşehir Nidakule Kolektif House) where team members can get together and work collaboratively on a volunteer basis.
