 On 5 March 2025, Rio Tinto completed the acquisition of Arcadium Lithium and combined it with its Rincon asset to form Rio Tinto Lithium, establishing Rio Tinto as a global leader in the supply of energy transition materials and one of the world’s top lithium producers. 

Position Summary:


 We are seeking a dynamic and driven Communications Specialist to join our team at Rio Tinto Lithium. We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainable energy and eager to learn about the lithium industry and its pivotal role in the transition toward a greener future. As the Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for crafting and managing internal and external communications that tell the story of our business, its impact, and its vision for the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Content Creation: Develop compelling written, visual, and multimedia content that communicates Rio Tinto’s mission, values, and industry contributions effectively.
  • Storytelling: Articulate Rio Tinto’s role in sustainable energy solutions and the lithium industry, highlighting innovative approaches and industry leadership.
  • Internal Communications: Support strategies to improve internal messaging, ensuring clarity and alignment across all business functions.
  • Project Management: Coordinate communications projects across teams and departments, managing timelines and deliverables to ensure success.
  • Technology Integration: Research and leverage new technologies to enhance communication strategies both internally and externally.
  • Industry Education: Continuously learn about the lithium industry and its intersection with sustainable energy to ensure messaging is informed and impactful.
  • Problem Solving: Address communication challenges with innovative solutions to maintain transparency and engagement.
  • Other job duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communications, project management, or related roles, preferably within the energy or mining industries.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:


  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to develop innovative communication strategies.
  • Proficiency in leveraging communication technologies and platforms.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and collaborate with diverse global teams.
  • A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn about new industries and technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage projects effectively.
