We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Level 1 to develop and define requirements from project inception to completion within a specific subject matter area. This role involves analysis, evaluation, and preparation of system recommendations for improvement, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge in specific software or system tools and contribute technical leadership in information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, risk management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop requirements and strategic plans for assigned subject matter areas.
- Assist project members with technical analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving.
- Prepare recommendations for system improvements, optimization, and development efforts.
- Provide expertise in information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, communications protocols, and risk management.
- Contribute specialized knowledge in software lifecycle management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring system integrity and compliance with DoD cybersecurity regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, working closely with engineers, analysts, and DoD leadership.
- Serve as a technical liaison, ensuring project alignment with mission-critical DoD initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging DoD technologies, threat landscapes, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance: TS preferred.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree OR
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience with a master’s degree or higher.
- Skills:
- Expert-level knowledge in specific software or system tools related to DoD applications.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to support complex system evaluations, design specifications, and implementation strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with classified DoD systems and security-compliant environments.
- Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST standards, and federal cybersecurity policies.
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, ITIL, or DoD-approved technical credentials.
