Summary
The Sr. Director, Platforms Development will oversee the activities of the platforms development staff in the sustaining and continuous development of leading-edge genomics instruments and consumables.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development group in the execution of company product priorities around instruments and consumables.
- Serve as the chief technical systems architect for these development efforts.
- Establish high standards for quality, reliability and timeliness.
- Manage the department budget, hiring and project priorities.
- Take on the technical leadership role (“core team leader”) on key instrument development projects.
- Coordinate with other related functions (assays, software, operations) in ensuring the instruments and consumables meet the overall system goals.
- Ensure effective transfer of the instruments and consumables designs into manufacturing.
Required Skills and Abilities
- At least 5 years of directly managing development teams.
- Hands-on experience with automated fluorescence microscopy, including optics, lasers, precision stages
- Direct experience in retaining and managing the services of 3rd party development partners
Education, Certifications, Licenses
- Master’s degree in engineering related field required
- Years relevant/ total work experience: 10+/ 15+
Additional Requirements
- Hybrid work location with requirement to be onsite in the San Deigo office 3-4 day per week.
- Travel Requirements: infrequent travel to conferences or customer sites
