A little bit about the role!
Kent Scientific is seeking a Technical Resources and Product Lead to drive our product strategy and manage our technical support operations. This role will be responsible for defining and executing the product roadmap for our in vivo research solutions, with a strong emphasis on instrumentation and tools used in rat and mouse models. Additionally, this individual will oversee our technical support personnel, produce key scientific content, and conduct necessary product testing and scientific studies.The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the life science animal research market, extensive hands-on experience with in vivo animal models, and a proven track record in both product management and technical leadership.
This individual will be instrumental in identifying market needs, driving product innovation, ensuring our offerings meet the evolving demands of the scientific community, and guaranteeing exceptional customer support.
The Technical Resources and Product Lead will be responsible for the following:
Leading Product Strategy
- Developing and executing the product vision, roadmap, and go-to-market strategy for in vivo research solutions.
- Conducting market research, analyzing competitors and customer feedback, and identifying product opportunities.
- Help manage the full product lifecycle from ideation to retirement and writing requirements and user stories.
- Collaborating with engineering, R&D, sales, and marketing to drive development and commercialization.
- Monitoring product performance and iterating based on data and customer insights.
Managing Technical Support
- Leading and mentoring the technical support team to ensure timely, high-quality customer assistance.
- Implementing best practices for support processes, documentation, and internal training.
- Analyzing support metrics to identify trends, improve usability, and inform product improvements.
Contributing Scientific Expertise
- Leveraging in vivo research experience with rodent models to guide product development and identify unmet needs.
- Designing and conducting scientific studies and product testing to validate performance and support marketing claims.
- Creating scientific content (ex: white papers, application notes) and staying informed on industry trends and regulations.
Driving Cross-Functional Leadership
- Mentoring technical and product-focused staff and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Collaborating with senior leadership to align product strategy with business goals.
- Representing Kent Scientific at conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings to gather insights and promote solutions.
We are excited about you because you have…
- A bachelor's degree in a life science field such as Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or Biomedical Engineering - an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is highly preferred.
- 7-10 years of hands-on experience working with in vivo animal models, especially small animal models, including expertise in experimental techniques, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- A deep understanding of the life science animal research market, including customer segments (academic, pharma, biotech), industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory context.
- At least 5 years of product management experience in the life science industry, with a strong track record of launching and managing scientific instruments or related technologies.
- Leadership experience in roles such as Head of Product, Senior Product Manager, or Technical Support Manager, with responsibility for strategy, team management, and cross-functional execution.
- A demonstrated ability to design and conduct scientific experiments and produce high-quality scientific documentation, including white papers and study reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to scientists, customers, and internal teams.
- A strategic mindset, capable of identifying market opportunities and turning them into actionable product plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with comfort interpreting data and making data-driven decisions.
- A collaborative, team-oriented working style and the ability to influence stakeholders across departments.
- Willingness and ability to travel 20–30% of the time for conferences, customer visits, and internal meetings.
