The LIV BHT plays a vital dual role in supporting clients’ mental health needs while facilitating engaging physical and recreational activities that promote healing, recovery, and overall wellness. This position also contributes to operational quality and regulatory compliance within our behavioral health programs. You will work closely with clients to foster a healthy lifestyle, support therapeutic interventions, and ensure program excellence through collaboration, attention to detail, and compassionate care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Behavioral Health Support: 


  • Provide direct support to clients based on individualized treatment plans, ensuring a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment. 
  • Observe, monitor, and document client behaviors, mood, and engagement in accordance with clinical protocols. 
  • Support therapists and clinical staff during group and individual therapy sessions by helping clients stay engaged, redirecting when necessary, and modeling appropriate  behavior. 
  • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed, maintaining a focus on safety and client well-being. 
  • Transport clients to appointments, off-site activities, or other facilities as needed, ensuring safety and professionalism at all times. 
  • Maintain client confidentiality in full compliance with HIPAA regulations. 

Activities and Wellness Facilitation: 


  • Assist the LIV Program Director in planning and executing activities that promote physical health, creativity, and emotional expression (e.g., nature walks, group fitness, art projects, snorkeling, surfing). 
  • Encourage client participation in wellness and movement-based programming tailored to their treatment goals. 
  • Co-facilitate wellness-based group activities such as swimming, walking groups, fitness games, and team-building exercises (lifeguard certification required or ability to obtain). 
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure recreational activities align with therapeutic objectives. 
  • Oversee the safety and maintenance of activity-related equipment and facilities. 

Operational Quality and Compliance:


  • Conduct audits of operational procedures to ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. 
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including patient charts, observation logs, assessments, and releases. 
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on documentation standards, safety protocols, and client engagement techniques.

  • Maintain objectivity towards all clients and make clinical decisions based on accurate information.
  • Discipline clients effectively and with appropriate frequency, using a variety of privileges and sanctions.
  • Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between staff and clients.
  • Promote self-help concepts within the program. Encourage clients to solve their own problems with guidance and encourage clients to use each other for support.
  • Implement a daily schedule of program activities.
  • Enforce rules and programmatic procedures.
  • Monitor and facilitate program activities. Engage in monitoring /surveillance activities.
  • Work cooperatively with others and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate patience and consideration in dealing with others.
  • Demonstrate thoughtful decision-making.
  • Ensure client confidentiality in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform this position successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  •  Certified Lifeguard with current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a strong ability to maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office). 
  • Enthusiastic, active lifestyle with a passion for physical wellness and therapeutic recreation. 
  • Prior experience working in a behavioral health, mental health, or addiction treatment setting. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, empathetic approach. 
  • Flexible and adaptable, capable of balancing client interaction with administrative and operational tasks. 
  • Able to pass a Level 2 background check and obtain a Certified Behavioral Health Tech Certification 
  • Clean driving record 
  • Must pass mandatory pre-employment screenings, including background checks and health screenings.
