Position Summary:


CARBO is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Petroleum Engineering Summer Intern to join our dynamic team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry. This internship will provide you with valuable insights into data analysis, financial equations, land oilfield operations, and reservoir engineering. This is a unique opportunity for a driven individual to contribute to our innovative projects and refine their skills in a real-world environment.

The weekly schedule for this internship is a 40-hour schedule.


Key Roles / Responsibilities:


  • Utilize data mining skills to extract and analyze essential information from various sources, assisting in decision-making processes and optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Apply your familiarity with financial equations to support economic evaluations and forecasts related to drilling, completion, and production operations.
  • Demonstrate a general knowledge of American Land Oilfield operations, including understanding leasehold rights, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Utilize your high-level Excel skills to organize and analyze large datasets, creating comprehensive reports and visualizations that provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver internal presentations, effectively communicating project updates, findings, and recommendations.
  • Apply your previous internships in the reservoir engineering field to contribute to reservoir characterization, production forecasting, and optimization studies.
  • Leverage your data mining experience to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that can enhance reservoir and production performance.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Enverus software or similar tools to analyze and interpret geological and reservoir data.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong data mining skills, including the ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data from diverse sources.
  • Familiarity with financial equations and their application in the oil and gas industry.
  • General knowledge of American Land Oilfield operations, including leasehold rights, regulatory requirements, and industry practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills to efficiently organize and analyze large datasets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present technical information to internal stakeholders.
  • Previous internships or relevant work experience in the reservoir engineering field, demonstrating a strong understanding of reservoir characterization, production forecasting, and optimization.
  • Experience in data mining and analysis, utilizing tools and techniques to derive valuable insights.
  • Working knowledge of Enverus software or similar geological and reservoir data analysis tools.

Working Conditions:


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
