You’ll own the end‑to‑end installation, upgrade, and support of network infrastructure, acting as the face of Bear Technologies for the organizations we serve. This position is located in PLANO, TX.What You’ll Do
- Design, install, and optimize wired and wireless LAN/WAN solutions, firewalls, switches, and related network hardware.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and third‑party applications, delivering permanent fixes—not just Band‑Aids.
- Document network diagrams, configurations, and change history in Bear’s standardized knowledge base.
- Collaborate with clients, internal engineers, and vendor partners to scope, stage, and execute projects.
- Coach junior technicians and cross‑train peers on best‑practice installation procedures.
- Maintain safety standards on site, including proper use of ladders and lifts, safe cable‑management practices, and adherence to client policies.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and maintain relevant industry certifications.
What You’ll Bring
- Required Certifications: CompTIA Network+ (or equivalent networking knowledge).
- Experience: 3+ years installing and supporting network infrastructure (switching, routing, WLAN) in multi‑site environments.
- Skills:
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and network security fundamentals.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot analytically and methodically under pressure.
- Professional written and verbal communication—you’ll interact with clients most days, whether by phone or in person.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and see them through to completion.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work on ladders up to 40 ft.
- Ability to travel out of town for projects lasting up to 5 consecutive days.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights when projects demand.
Nice to Have
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or Meraki certifications.
- Experience with virtualized network environments (Hyper‑V, Proxmox, VMware, etc.).
- Experience operating boom or scissor lifts.
- Knowledge of emerging AI and automation systems.
