Senior Cost Accountant📍Location:El Cajon, CA🕒Employment Type:Full-Time, Exempt📢Reports To:Corporate ControllerAbout the RoleOur construction client is looking for ahands-on, experienced Senior Cost Accountantto lead accounting and administrative functions for our construction operations. In this role, you’ll ensure accuracy across project accounting, lead a dedicated accounting team, and work closely with leadership — including the President, Project Managers, Estimators, and Corporate Finance.If you have a background in construction accounting, enjoy process improvement, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you.What You’ll Do
- Supervise and support one project accountant
- Manage all aspects of project accounting: requisitions, forecasting (CTC/WIP), over/under billings, and project cash tracking
- Oversee subcontractor billing compliance and invoice processing
- Lead regional cash collection and forecasting
- Prepare monthly P&L forecasts, finalize WIP, and present financials to leadership
- Monitor SG&A expenses and align spending with budgets
- Track backlog, identify CapEx needs, and oversee warehouse/equipment/inventory accounting
- Act as liaison between Risk Management and project teams
- Ensure smooth communication between division and Corporate Accounting
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 5+ years ofconstructionaccounting experience
- Management experience preferred, not requiredÂ
- Proficiency in job cost accounting and WIP reporting
- Strong understanding of industry-specific financial procedures and compliance
Compensation/Perks:
- Salary: $110K-$120K per year, 10% guaranteed annual bonus, plus generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation and sick days, 8 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday, 401K match and great work/life balance.
