The
Medical Science Liaison
(MSL) serves as a key, customer-facing clinical and scientific resource for healthcare providers, academic institutions, key opinion leaders (KOLs), payers, and professional organizations as it relates to Baylor Genetics' product menu, research, and scientific area. The MSL works closely with the sales and business development organization to provide clinical education to current and potential customers and ensures access to current medical and scientific information on company products. Additionally, the MSL establishes long-term, science-based relationships with KOLs, and works to define strategies that support medical education programs, KOL engagement, and advisory boards.
Duties will also include managing case-specific inquiries, offering high-quality clinical support to healthcare providers. The MSL will develop and maintain internal and external relationships nationally, maintain a high level of customer service, and demonstrate accountability for their part in corporate growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and/or clinical presentations on data that support BG’s Pharmacogenomics (PGx) products to a variety of external customers.
- Serve as a medical and scientific resource for the Baylor Genetics Sales and Business Development teams.
- Develop, maintain, and manage interactions with KOLs.
- Support lab operations by providing additional information to healthcare providers regarding Baylor Genetics products, offering expert guidance on testing strategies, and recommendations based on genetic findings.
- Collaborate closely with the Client Services and Clinical Support teams to ensure efficiency and quality in inquiry resolution
- Represent Baylor Genetics at various scientific and clinical congress meetings.
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain scientific and clinical expertise.
- Provides medical expertise in the creation of materials for healthcare providers, review and approval of external resources, communication tools, and publications to ensure medical accuracy.
- Support and coordinate ongoing clinical trial and research initiatives at academic institutions and/or study sites.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical advancements in the relevant scientific space by continuing education through literature review, journal clubs, and conference attendance.
Qualifications
- Pharmacist with PharmD and/or Genetic Counselor with master’s degree in genetics/genetic counseling and ABGC/ABMG Board-certification.
- Previous MSL experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of clinical and/or laboratory experience with Pharmacogenomics strongly preferred.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings.
- Must be willing to travel up to 40% for conferences and key customer meetings.

- In-depth expertise in clinical and laboratory pharmacogenomics, demonstrating proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex genetic data.
- Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure thorough review and handling of client inquiries
- Basic knowledge and understanding of health economic principles and clinical trials
- Strong time management and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications
