501506 Engineering Technician
Work Location: Huntsville, AL Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week; 8 hours per day in office (remote work is not authorized)Relocation: NegotiableIronMountain Solutions is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to support projects related to turbine engines, data acquisition systems, and test cell instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical and/or electrical assembly with strong technical expertise in turbine engine systems, electrical/software troubleshooting, and sustainment of test environments.
This role requires leadership, technical acumen, and the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. An active DoD Secret level security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and configure test setups according to engineering specifications. Operate test equipment and machinery to perform functional, performance, or stress tests on products or components. Collect, monitor, and record test data during operations.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate testing instruments and systems. Ensure testing equipment remains in compliance with industry standards and is functioning properly.
- Accurately document test results and provide data to engineers or quality teams. Analyze test outcomes to identify trends or anomalies and report findings. Support root cause analysis for test failures.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test documentation. Maintain accurate logs of test activities and issues encountered during testing.
- Work closely with test engineers to understand test plans, requirements, and objectives. Assist in the design and development of new testing procedures or fixtures.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years supporting complex projects, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or engineering industries. Additional education can be submitted in lieu of experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of turbine engine systems and related testing processes. Expertise in mechanical/electrical assembly, data acquisition systems, test cell instrumentation, and associated software.
- Measurement Instrumentation: Familiarity with key instrumentation such as thermocouples, transducers, flow meters, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Education: HS Diploma or GED
- Desired Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with electronic or mechanical schematics. Basic programming or scripting for automated tests.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
