Position Summary
The Buyer/Planner/Inventory Coordinator supports daily manufacturing operations by managing material planning, procurement, and inventory tracking. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring materials are available, timelines are met, and communication flows between departments and suppliers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance attention to detail with big-picture priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with suppliers, Engineering, and Production to ensure timely material availability.
- Communicate regularly with Customer Service to align on delivery, quality, and technical requirements.
- Maintain accurate commit dates in the ERP system and follow through on open service line items.
- Interface with customers as needed to provide updates on milestones and delivery timelines.
- Support cost estimation for bills of material and expedite fees in collaboration with Engineering and Supply Chain.
- Analyze MRP data and create purchase orders based on buy/action reports; manage exceptions proactively.
- Resolve material receipt discrepancies, reduce shortages, and support supplier performance improvement.
- Monitor and report on key metrics including: Capacity planning, Vendor OTD, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), Requisition backlog, Inventory alignment.
- Recommend process improvements and support lean inventory initiatives.
- Uphold 6S and safety standards in the inventory and work areas.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
2+ years in a buying, planning, or inventory coordination role in a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting cross-functional teams including Engineering and Production preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.); ERP experience preferred (GrowthPower or similar).
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills with internal teams and suppliers.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and adapting to shifting production needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to crouch, reach, or stoop as needed
