Position Summary:
A key leader in Finance, the Commercial Controller owns the responsibilities and relationships related to the toplines of the income statement as Crinetics becomes a commercial company. The Commercial Controller will be responsible in establishing and maintaining a team, processes, systems, policies, and controls related to revenue and inventory accounting and financial reporting. Owning key internal relationships with Market Access, Sales Operations, Commercial IT, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
The Commercial Controller must have a keen understanding of the compliance requirements of a public company.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
- Establish and maintain revenue and inventory financial reporting and processes, controls and accounting policies.
- Manage the day-to-day commercial accounting operations including guiding decision making and building a robust financial infrastructure to support the needs of a publicly traded company.
- Work with 3PL vendor(s) to coordinate data gathering to support the accounting and reporting for revenue and inventory.
- Serve as a key partner with internal stakeholders in areas including, but not limited to, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Commercial IT, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
- Assess system requirements for the commercial accounting areas in support of organizational growth; systems implementation experience or improvement experience; lead system implementations in commercial accounting areas such as a costing system.
- Actively set, oversee, and optimize commercial accounting processes to optimize effectiveness and minimize risk.
- Drive the preparation of accurate and timely GAAP-based gross margin reporting in aiding quality decision making process.
- Compile and maintain high-quality and organized documentation to support the select disclosures in SEC filings.
- Partner with SEC reporting and SOX compliance team members to design, document, and maintain effective internal controls over the accounting and financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with SOX 404b.
- Support the periodic integrated audits and quarterly reviews with auditors.
- Work with CFO and VP finance to monitor and manage cash inflows.

- Proactively initiate process improvements to enhance financial reporting and internal control processes.
- Manage commercial accounting team including supervising direct report(s) by providing regular feedback, setting annual goals, completing regular performance feedback evaluations.
- Promote inclusive work environment for team and model inclusive behavior.
- Partner with finance & accounting leaders to identify, hire, and train additional accounting personnel as the company grows.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects as needed.

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, or business administration with an accounting/finance emphasis.
- Minimum 15+ years’ work experience with relevant public company accounting and financial reporting; Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years managing teams.
- A collaborative style with the ability to partner and build trust and accountability across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
- Experience in establishing commercial accounting readiness in launching a company or product(s).
- Strong knowledge in revenue recognition accounting, inventory costing and valuation, and gross-to-net considerations.
- Strong operating accounting background.
- A goal-oriented team player who thrives on strong performance and results.
- Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial statements.
- Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Total Compensation:
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is: $204,000 - $255,000.
