Quality Instrumentation & Measurement Engineer

Position Summary


Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with quality objectives and policies. Work closely with business leads to develop, implement, and maintain measurement programs, supporting and enhancing metrology solutions for the customer base. Proficient in CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machines) and OGP (Optical Gaging Products) programming and operation. Strong grasp of GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and mechanical inspection.

Experienced in quality software, documentation practices, and inspection methods. Support validation activities by writing metrology requirements/specifications. Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and support measurement methods for manufacturing and design, including new implementations, analysis of current methods, and training delivery.
  • Lead compliance efforts with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and 21 CFR Part 820 GMPs.
  • Perform GR&Rs and comparison studies; act as sole driver when required.
  • Program and support CMM (PC-DMIS, Calypso), OGP (Zone3), and Instron (Bluehill Universal) machines.
  • Sustain cleanroom metrology equipment and support non-standard measurement requests for R&D and root cause investigations.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize tool recipes with input from Product Engineering and Operations.
  • Administer calibration, software updates, and program maintenance for metrology equipment.
  • Support creation of CMM and vision system fixtures.
  • Provide technical guidance and fault diagnosis of equipment issues.
  • Support and lead metrology-related continuous improvement projects.
  • Deliver technical presentations and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Provide excellent internal/external customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per business needs.

Requirements


Education/Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Sr. Tech)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering (Engineer)
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Experiences in Zone 3
  • Experience with GR&R and test method validation
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T
  • Familiarity with QC/Six Sigma tools: Control Charts, Pareto, Histograms, Scatter Plots, Fishbone Analysis, Process Capability
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
  • Self-starter with a customer-focused attitude

Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience creating fixtures for metrology systems
  • Experience giving technical presentations

Physical and Travel Requirements


  • May require standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Good visual acuity and color distinction may be required.
  • Exposure to plastic fumes/particulates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to travel (0–10%) as needed.
  • Must be able to work overtime or irregular hours if required.
